Stop Feeling Tired

How to Live a Healthy and Active Lifestyle

It is normal to get tired, but if you are feeling sluggish every hour of each day, you will become unproductive, stressed, unhappy, and not enjoying a great quality of life. Indeed, persistent tiredness is a great hindrance for us to do what we need to do, and if you want to achieve your goals, you have to stop feeling tired.

To help you check the factors of your constant fatigue, it is wise to check your lifestyle and habits. More often, persistent fatigue comes from the simple things we do everyday that we often take for granted. Living a sedentary lifestyle can make us more tired day after day, thus make sure you are not causing your own tiredness by getting active.

Have a good cardio exercise everyday. Allot a few minutes of your time to exercise regularly. Take a walk early in the morning, jog, ride your bicycle or just get a simple exercise routine after you wake up. Enjoy your favorite sports on the weekend or visit the gym.

A good exercise will not only help you overcome persistent tiredness, it will also help you manage stress. It will also help you get good supply of oxygen to your body and lowers the risks of heart diseases.

If you want to stop feeling tired, check your habits. Are you ignoring your alarm clock and putting it often on snooze? Waking up later than your biological clock's wake up time can make you feel tired the entire day, so make sure you stick to your sleeping hours always. Make sure also that you have enough sleep everyday. Sleep deprivation is one cause of tiredness and stress, so avoid it as much as possible.

Avoid those instant fixes. Most people get a cup or two of coffee if they are feeling tired, but keep in mind that although caffeine may boost your alertness in no time, it may also make you feel more tired once the effect wears out. The same can be true to energy drinks as well. Also avoid caffeine and alcohol a few hours before going to sleep as this can disrupt your sleep.

Get proper nutrition and maintain a healthy weight. Proper nutrition is also a key towards living an active lifestyle without persistent fatigue. Add more fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet and cut down on carbs and sugar. Too much carbohydrates and sugar in your diet can also contribute to your being sluggish. Of course, it is also important to keep a healthy weight if you want to stop feeling tired always. Being overweight or obese can also be a factor of persistent tiredness, so make sure you also lose those extra weight to maintain an active lifestyle.

Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated as well. To stop feeling tired always, fuel your body with enough water to make it run smoothly. Bodily functions need water and if you are feeling sluggish everyday, you may have forgotten to feed yourself with enough water. Aside from being a good way to cleanse your body from toxins, keeping yourself hydrated can also boost your energy level at all times.

Almost everyone experiences back pain at some point in their lives. For some, the pain goes away quickly, but many experience pain that recurs or becomes chronic. Back pain can get in the way of home, work and social life. It is important to be proactive.

Stretching

The first and most important step to ridding back pain is to get active. A sedentary lifestyle is detrimental to your body. It is important to stretch regularly, giving your body a break from the position it holds while you work, watch TV or travel. Strengthening

Posture

The modern era, with its emphasis on working and playing from chairs, has given birth to a poor posture epidemic. It is common to slump down when you are working at a desk, allowing your lower back to round out and your shoulders to slump forward. Forward head posture is very common among people who use computers, iPhones and other electronic devices regularly.

Stretching and strengthening will help you achieve proper posture, but you must also practice posture awareness. It is easy to sink back into poor habits the minute you sit at your computer desk or pull out your phone. Change the way you do these activities. Adjust the height and angle of your computer chair and monitor to encourage your head to stay properly aligned. Hold your electronic devices to eye-level rather than craning your head down to get closer to them. These may seem like small changes, but when you add up the amount of time you spend with your technology throughout the day, the change adds up for your back and neck as well.

Sleep Factors

How you sleep and what you do it on can play a big role in back pain. Remember, most people spend a quarter to a third of every day in bed. Sleeping on your stomach is not recommended; this allows the lower back arch to increase and can cause muscle tension. If you sleep on your side, put a pillow between your knees to promote proper hip alignment. If you sleep on your back, put a pillow under your knees; this promotes a neutral pelvic position.

If you have been sleeping on a lumpy, sagging mattress, it is time for a new setup. Most people with back problems benefit from firm mattresses that keep the spine and pelvis aligned. Platform beds are excellent supports for a mattress. Memory foam can be placed on top of platform stands to create a firm, uniform bed. If you can't afford a new bed, you might even benefit from sleeping on the floor in the meantime. Many with back pain report beneficial results from the floor versus an old mattress.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The Carpal Tunnel is a passageway inside the wrist, a tunnel surrounded by bones and ligaments. Aiming to protect the median nerve, the nerve that runs down the arm and forearm into the hand, the Carpal Tunnel can sometimes be affected by a syndrome. This syndrome, called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, occurs when abnormal pressure is placed on the median nerve, causing decreased hand and finger function and leaving those affected sometimes unable to perform even the simplest tasks.

Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can develop for many years with no noticeable symptoms. However, when the first symptoms do appear they include burning or tingling sensations in the fingers, pain and numbness in the hand, an inability to grasp onto objects, and a weakness of the hands. Because Carpal Tunnel Syndrome involves the median nerve, it affects the parts of the hand that the median nerve supplies. These include the thumb, the index finger, the middle finger, and half of the ring finger. Since the pinky finger is not controlled by the median nerve, the pinky finger is not usually hindered by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Those experiencing symptoms for the first time may notice that their Carpal Tunnel Syndrome flares up at night and that they can sometimes get relief by vigorously shaking their hand.

Known as a "hidden disability," people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may fully function from the view of an outsider, with hands that are able to engage in most normal activities. But, the person with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome usually has some restriction of hand function or significant pain during hand movement.

What Causes Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is often caused by underlying conditions that place a strain on the median nerve, compromising the blood supply it delivers to the fingers. These can include existing diseases such as diabetes, which increases the sensitivity of pressure to the median nerve, and hypothyroidism, which can increase the amount of water retained in the arms and wrists.

Many causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome aren't disease-based, however, causes can be generated from external stimuli, such as wrist injuries, fractures of the arm bone, and dislocation of one of the carpal bones in the wrist. Pregnancy, because it can cause swelling of the wrists, can also place pressure on the median nerve by narrowing the carpal tunnel.

Many instances of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are thought to be idiopathic, having no obvious cause. However, even with idiopathic instances, certain activities can aggravate the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. These can include using power tools or working on an assembly line, constantly performing repetitive - and sometimes awkward - motions. Certain people can even be born with an abnormally narrow carpal tunnel, making them predisposed to the syndrome that may accompany it.

While Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can affect all demographics, it is far more common in women than in men. It is also most common in those who are middle aged and post-menopausal. Obesity and tobacco use increases a person's risk.

Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Many people with a mild case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome will find relief simply in adjusting their lifestyle and workstyle habits. While foregoing repetitive wrist activity may not be feasible, particularly when a career is based on repetitive motion, allowing the wrist time to rest while at work and at play can greatly relieve the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Resting the wrist for great lengths at a time may seem like a reasonable break, but studies have shown that it is more beneficial for those afflicted by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to take several small breaks, rather than one that is lengthy. Applying cold packs to relieve any swelling of the hands and wrists is also a helpful form of treatment.
For those with a case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that is not aided by rest or cold compressions, wrist splinting is an alterative form of treatment. A person, wearing a splint that keeps their hand still while they sleep, may notice that the symptoms of burning, tingling, and pain are greatly relieved. Wrist splinting, however, is usually only helpful for those who have had symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for less than a year.

While Carpal Tunnel Syndrome certainly doesn't have a magic pill serving as an antidote in its healing, there are certain medications that can relieve its pain and discomfort. These can include Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (or NSAIDs) for those whose condition is brought on by inflammation or Corticosteroids to relieve the pressure on the median nerve, decreasing the pain in the process.
The literal hands-on approach of spinal manipulation and deep friction massage can help manage the swelling that is pressing on the median nerve, causing the symptoms to flare up. Manual stretches of the wrist and tendons, additionally, can help increase the blood flow to the hand.

While the evidence is not conclusive, some speculate that dietary changes may lead to diminishing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome symptoms by arming the body with the nutrients it needs to repair nerve damage and decrease inflammation. By taking something as simple as a multi-vitamin, pressure from the median nerve may be diminished, allowing it to repair itself back to its natural state.
While the above mentioned treatment options are usually limited to being beneficial to those who have mild to moderate cases of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, for those who have severe cases, surgery may be the best option.

Though there are several approved surgeries for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, they all involve the same theme of the cutting of the ligament that is pressing on the median nerve. They are also all procedures done on an out patient basis, with a small incision cut in the wrist or the palm and a recovery time of just a few weeks. While not all surgeries are successful in relieving the symptoms, roughly 70 percent of patients who choose surgery report satisfaction with the outcome.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can happen for reasons that are understood and for reasons that are unknown. However, practicing self-care can prevent some of the symptoms that arise no matter the underlying cause. From keeping hands warm to improving posture, and from relaxing the grip while performing tasks with the hands to taking frequent breaks, the best chance at preventing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome usually lies with some conscientious effort.

Acid Reflux Diet And Getting Rid Of Heartburn

Acid reflux diet is to someone with heartburn, like a low-fat diet is to someone who is overweight. They are special diets for conditions that you want to get rid of, and do so naturally through life style changes. In the case of reflux and heartburn, the foods that you eat are of the primary reasons that you have the problem.

Reflux And Heartburn

There are varying thoughts and questions for why one person will get heartburn and another person won't, including those about the severity, where one person will have an occasional episode of heartburn, and for another person this becomes a persistent and chronic condition or disease.

What is clear though is what is happening when reflux occurs, and that diet is a primary cause. Based on this understanding, you will have the ability to follow an acid reflux diet developed to avoid and eliminate what are known as acid reflux trigger foods, and that are causing the reflux and heartburn to occur.

So, what is acid reflux and heartburn? To begin with, this is a digestive condition that has nothing to do with the heart. When you eat food it goes down through the esophagus and enters the stomach through the lower esophageal sphincter [LES]. This is a valve that opens to allow the food into the stomach, and then closes to keep it there. Once the food is in the stomach it goes through the digestion process, where acids and enzymes are produced in the stomach to break down the food and turn it into nutrients.

In most cases there isn't more acid produced than needed for digestion, along with the acid remaining in the stomach while it is being used. However, for some people the LES does not function properly, and will not remain closed during digestion. As a result, there is acid reflux where the stomach acid goes back up into the esophagus and causes heartburn. This is especially problematic if you are also creating excess acid, and over time the problem will worsen and become more frequent.

Your acid reflux diet is very important for controlling this for the following reasons (1) some foods create more stomach acid (2) some foods need more stomach acid for digestion (3) some foods have a tendency to relax the LES, which further allows the excess acid to reflux back into the esophagus.

Acid Reflux Diet Tips - Foods To Avoid

There are foods that either have more acid content, or create more stomach acid content - you will want to stay away from these if you are having heartburn problems. The citrus fruits and juices that like oranges and grapefruits are highly acidic. And tomatoes, which are used in so many things like soups and sauces [and that ketchup you are pouring on those French fries - these are both acid reflux trigger foods] are also highly.

And then of course, there are the foods that are very spicy, like those with hot peppers, chilies, and garlic in them. These foods are also highly acidic, and again foods to avoid.

Some people think that liquids are not a problem because they aren't solid foods; this is not the case, and there are liquids that are of the most problematic for those with heartburn. The alcoholic drinks very much increase stomach acid, with beer being especially bad considering that it has been shown to even double the acid in your stomach in as little as an hour.

Besides alcohol, you will want to stay away from carbonated drinks and caffeinated drinks including coffee, as these also increase stomach acid. Going to the decaffeinated types really isn't a solution - there is acid coming from the coffee itself, and carbonation is a trigger for acid reflux.

Foods with high fat content are a very big problem because they are much harder to digest, and thus (1) will have to produce more stomach acid for digestion (2) will take longer to digest, which will keep the acid in your stomach longer and give it more opportunity to reflux back into your esophagus.

Stay away from the foods themselves, foods like fatty meats, butter, whole milk, and dairy products. But also understand the fat content being used in your food preparation. You don't want to be using vegetable oils, and you don't want to be eating deep fried foods - good-bye fast food restaurants.

And then there is desert, which is usually full of fat and oils. And then there is my favorite, which is chocolate and anything with chocolate in it. As mentioned above, of the biggest reasons for reflux and heartburn is the opening of the LES while all this acid is in your stomach; unfortunately chocolate is one of those foods that are known to relax the LES and allow this to happen.

You can tell from these foods being listed as acid reflux trigger foods, and foods to avoid, that your acid reflux diet will include eliminating a lot of your most favorite foods. There is no doubt about this, and obviously tradeoffs will have to be made - would you rather get rid of the reflux and heartburn, or would you rather keep eating the foods that are causing it because you like them?

Something to keep in mind though as an additional benefit is the fact that many of these foods you like so much really aren't very healthy in general. So while you are eliminating foods for your acid reflux diet, you will also be improving your general health by eating better.

Acid Reflux Diet Tips - Foods To Eat More Of

Your acid reflux diet is not about only avoiding foods, there are foods that you want to eat more of because they will help dissolve stomach acids, and as a result reduce or eliminate heartburn. Everyone who has acid reflux and heartburn should buy a good acid reflux cookbook and guide. Besides learning more from the experts about foods to avoid, you also want to know which foods to eat more.

Foods that are especially known to neutralize stomach acids are (1) fruits like apples, bananas, and papaya (2) vegetables like broccoli, peas, green beans, and green cabbage.

Also, foods made from grains like bread and cereals [stay away from those with lots of white processed flour and sugar]have a tendency to help neutralize the acid in the stomach, as does the foods like pasta and rice which are high in complex carbohydrates.

And drink lots of water. Besides being so healthy for you in general, water can help dilute the acid in your stomach, while also 'pushing down' the acid that has refluxed into your esophagus - both of these characteristics will be very beneficial for reducing heartburn.

Heartburn Getting Worse

These acid reflux diet tips should help someone with minor heartburn problems to eliminate them, and even help someone with very bad acid reflux and heartburn to reduce the severity and make it less frequent. But be smart about this; you could have acid reflux disease, or what is known as GERDS. If you are have problems to the extent that they are occurring daily and even affecting your overall life, they can't be ignored. Left untreated, GERDS can progress into many health problems, including esophageal cancer.

So start with these acid reflux diet tips, and see if they will control and get rid of your heartburn.
